Police shot and severely injured an autistic teen earlier this week in Utah. The young man has severe separation anxiety and had a meltdown when his mom had to return to work after months in lockdown. She called the police for mental health assistance. When they arrived, she told them her son was autistic. She clearly informed them that he was not in a state to hear or obey commands.
Then they entered the house, ordered him to “get on the floor,” and when he failed to comply they shot him. What excuse is there for this kind of behavior?
